BALMAIN KIDS SS20
FEBRUARY 2020

#BALMAINKIDSSS20
For his latest resort collection for Balmain, Creative Director Olivier Rousteing turned to the bohemian, nonconformist spirit of the ‘70s for inspiration, capturing that decade’s beautifully rebellious vibe with surprising new variations on the house’s iconic styles, a mesmerizing selection of black-and-white offerings and a fresh take on the unique graphic heritage of the American Southwest.

THE TROUBLEMAKER
Those familiar with the brand will quickly note the pieces that channel some of the strongest looks from other recent Rousteing runways, as well. The “troublemaker” theme of Balmain’s Fall 2019 women’s collection relied on super- feminine colors and silhouettes, paired with unexpected and refreshing touches of tough—and Balmain Kids plays with those same startling contrasts, pairing feminine skirts and patterned spikes. The house’s reborn Couture offerings, which had its first runway show this year, is celebrated in a small couture-inspired range for girls.
- NOW AVAILABLE TO THE YOUNGEST MEMBERS OF THE BALMAIN ARMY, AS WELL -

Of course, signature styles and key elements of house’s unique DNA are also reflected here. Rousteing’s love of updating signature French pieces can be seen in the multiple plays on the classic marinières. The inseparable intertwining of Balmain and music is reflected both in an overall attitude that channels rockers’ confident style and specific pieces relying on classic, rock-inspired prints. The bold, new Balmain monogram and logo are present Military patterns, colors and silhouettes, so often seen on the house’s runway, are now available to the youngest members of the Balmain Army, as well.
